Internet browsers are one of the most important tools available in utilizing the benefits of the World Wide Web. They convert thousands of lines of code in a matter of seconds into usable applications and websites. Aside from just displaying content on the internet, browsers have continued to evolve in speed, security measures, and customizable add-ons. These are all excellent examples of why it is both important and beneficial to stay up-to-date with the latest releases of the internet browser you are using.
Speed and Technology
With every major version release of an internet browser, countless hours of research and testing are exhausted by public testers to ensure every bug is worked out of the software. Along with this testing, browser developers optimize the source code to speed up the browser as well introduce powerful new technologies for future applications of the internet. Using an up-to-date browser ensures you have full access to new content and that you experience it exactly as it was intended. An additional benefit to new technologies and speed is the auto update feature, which is being included in many new browsers. Microsoft’s Windows automatically updates your browser; additionally some browsers have this feature built in like, Mozilla’s Firefox.
Security Measures
One of the most important reasons to keep your browser upgraded to the newest version is to stay updated with the latest security patches and features. Browsers like Internet Explorer 8 are doing an exceptional job of protecting internet users from the scams and malicious software so prevalent on the internet today. IE 8 not only protects the user, but it does so in a very unobtrusive manner.
Add-ons
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Mozilla’s Firefox are both taking advantage of add-ons heavily because of their popularity. Add-ons can provide anything from search features to totally changing the look and feel of your browser. One of my favorite add-ons for Mozilla Firefox is called Xmarks. Xmarks is a free add-on that allows you to save and upload your bookmarks to a secure server and sync all your computer’s bookmarks together. With this add-on, I never find myself in a situation of needing a bookmark that is on another computer other than the one I am using. Xmarks also comes with an online account you can log in from any computer with an internet connection to view and manage all your bookmarks.
An ever growing number of website design companies are beginning to take advantage of the features supported by newer web browsers. Why put off upgrading your browser when it only takes a matter of minutes? Below are a few of the most popular browser that you are sure not to go wrong with.
